I can't begin to describe how great of an experience we had working with Larry on an exterior restoration of our house. Our 1910 craftsman home had a big issue with paint bubbling due to many layers of incompatible types of paint used over the years. Our home still had the original cedar siding and we couldn't imagine replacing it. At first we didn't know where to start. Most contractors were either painters that didn't handle the type of surface preparation needed to deal with paint bubbling or siding specialists that only provided removing and replacing siding. Just when we were losing hope of finding the right contractor, we read a very positive review on Angie's list about how Larry and his team were able to help someone else in a similar situation. I called Larry the next day and I am so happy I did. Although we originally reached out to Larry about painting, we were very happy to learn that his team could tackle a number of other projects for our home's exterior as well. We worked with Larry to come up with a holistic plan for a complete exterior restoration that fit our budget. Coming up with the plan was a fun process that got us very excited about the project. It also made us realize how passionate Larry is about making old homes shine! In addition to the difficult surface preparation needed before painting, Larry's team also handled a number of repairs. A section of siding had rotted and they were able to replace just that section with new cedar siding (preserving as much as possible). The back corner of the house is an addition and was originally done with a different siding that didn't match the cedar used for the rest of the house. Larry's team figured out how to replace the siding in this section with new cedar siding and have it blend in seamlessly with the original by interweaving it. The result far exceeded our expecationation of what was even possible! Larry's team also stained our fence, fixed window frames, repaired gates, and the list goes on. The front porch is where we worked with Larry to go beyond repairs and try something new and exciting. The biggest change was replacing a small window on the porch with an incredible piece of antique stained glass that Larry helped source. The stained glass was much taller and skinnier than the original window. Larry's team was able to create a new window frame and install the glass in record time. Larry went the extra mile to make sure the lighting was perfect and had back lighting installed behind the window. The ceiling of the porch was also replaced with new cedar panels with a translucent high gloss stain. Larry's team also created custom caps for the posts on the stairs leading up the porch to replace the warped metal ones that were there previously. The new caps are beautifully topped with amber glass. The combination of the stained glass, the glass caps, improved lighting and the refraction off the high gloss ceiling transformed the space into something really special. We couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend Larry and his team to anyone looking to restore an older home or add improvements in keeping with the home's original style. Thornton House Painting

Over time, a home exterior is bound to require a fresh coat paint. There are lots of considerations when it comes to estimating the cost of an exterior paint job: the number of square feet to be covered, the level of complexity involved in terms of decorative details to work around, the type of paint you want to use, and whether your home will require one or two coats of paint are all key factors. Seattle Paint and Drywall I normally write reviews for two reason; the first for a job that ended as if a grade schooler did the work, and second if the work was not only completed to my specks, but the demeanor of the owner as well as the workers. I like people that will interact as well as update me as needed and complete the work in the specified time and like I said, completed to the specks in which the owner or supervisor said it would be. I contacted Patrick Sears, the owner and told him what we were looking at (paint the exterior of our home), and we set a date for Patrick to come out and give us and estimate. I was impressed with Patrick on our first contact. Patrick was very business-like but also friendly and easy to speak with. We went through everything and he explained things I wasn’t sure about. That is the way a business should be run. Because of his and his crews schedule he said it would be a couple of weeks before they could come out to do the job, which was no big deal for us. Patrick stayed in contact and we figured out the colors we wanted, he was a great help. On the day the painters arrived, Manuel introduced himself and the crew. My wife and I were really impressed with Manuel. He was friendly, knowledgeable and kept us informed throughout the project. They ensured paint chips were removed and the wood was cleaned before painting. The project (overall) was a little over two days. The last day Kevin (I think that was his name), came over and touched up whatever needed to be touched up. Like the others, Kevin was awesome! Kevin, like the rest of the team was very friendly and wanted nothing more than to ensure our job was done to our satisfaction (which it was). The touch ups were completed, everything was cleaned up, it was great. So, you ask… Would I contact Seattle Pain and Drywall again, or recommend them? Without hesitation! They were awesome! Their work was flawless and demeanor professional and interested in what we wanted. The work was done correctly, on time and the price was good. They don’t use cheap paint that will peel off in a couple of months, and the crew was friendly, respectful, and easy to talk with. We plan on having them back to do the interior before we move. Generally speaking, a gallon of paint will cover about 350 square feet. If this is the first time drywall is painted, it will soak up more paint. And remember to factor in whether your job will require one or two coats of paint. Dark and bright colors will require more coats of paint, as will painting a lighter color over an existing darker color. Divide the paintable wall surface by 350 to determine how many gallons of paint you will need to buy. If there’s an odd number with less than .5 leftover, round down, if it’s over .5 round up.
There’s no doubt about it: weather and time can take a toll on a house’s paint job. Sooner or later, most homeowners will need to tackle interior and exterior painting projects. The cost of painting a house will vary depending on many factors. If you have the time and energy, you can save money and paint a house yourself, and you just need to factor in the cost of paint and materials, as well as the value of your time. That said, depending on the composition of the paint, some exterior paint is appropriate for painting the interior of a home. Paint meant for the exterior of a home will hold up over time.Just be sure that the area being painted is well ventilated, as it will come with a strong smell at first, which will dissipate over time.A painting professional will be able to advise you about whether your exterior paint is appropriate for indoor use. There are permanent features of the home that have their own colors which cannot be changed when painting the exterior of the home but can have a dramatic satisfaction level that is experienced when the painting is completed.  Roofing shingles, paving blocks, concrete surfaces, stones and other such features are prime examples of the colors that should be considered when selecting your exterior color scheme for the home.  Homeowners can work off of these colors to make a home that looks uniform and luxurious when the exterior painting is complete.

If there is any peeling — and there usually is somewhere — it's essential to scrape off any loose paint. This doesn't just mean the parts that are already separated from the wood and ready to fall off on their own. Each spot where paint has peeled loose needs to be scraped thoroughly until you can no longer get the sharp corner of a putty knife under any of the surrounding edges of paint. Then, the bare spot needs to be sanded until the paint edges are smooth. Thornton House Painters
It’s a lot of tedious and time-consuming work, and it’s usually wise to hire an experienced painter to tackle the job for you, especially for bigger jobs or jobs that require a ladder. A painting pro can provide an estimate by the square foot of your house’s interior or exterior, the level of difficulty posed by the house’s configuration, and the going rate for labor in your area. Start by researching the pros and cons of various types of paint. Then, if you’re using pro, get three estimates to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Painting a house is not inexpensive, but the right work pays off in protecting your home and keeping it looking fabulous for years to come. House Painting Thornton

I used Runland Painting to paint the exterior of my home. I am very pleased with the job they did. John was very easy to work with and very responsive. He always answered my questions and responded to any concerns that I had quickly. The crew always arrived on time and when they were scheduled. They communicated very well and always let me know what they would be working on. It was a big job and well executed. I have had so many neighbors come by and comment on how beautiful it looks. I couldn't be happier with Runland Painting and I would definitely recommend them. They also completed my job earlier than planned. Thank you John! Thornton Home Painting

Some service pros are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, you may be matched with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate service professionals. The above screening process is not applicable to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate service professionals. House Painting Thornton

I was a former contractor myself and worked in construction for many years so I know a good painter when I see one. A good paint job is about knowing how to prepare each surface to receive the paint. Then also nowadays it's important to have experience with the different coatings currently available. Finally its important have the skills needed to apply the paint (spray, brush, etc) and proceed in a workmanlike manner doing what needs to be done efficiently but without cutting corners. From estimate to finish it is clear that Brush'n'Roll operates with a very high level of professionalism and competence so I recommend this company without reservation. Thornton House Painting
