I can't begin to describe how great of an experience we had working with Larry on an exterior restoration of our house. Our 1910 craftsman home had a big issue with paint bubbling due to many layers of incompatible types of paint used over the years. Our home still had the original cedar siding and we couldn't imagine replacing it. At first we didn't know where to start. Most contractors were either painters that didn't handle the type of surface preparation needed to deal with paint bubbling or siding specialists that only provided removing and replacing siding. Just when we were losing hope of finding the right contractor, we read a very positive review on Angie's list about how Larry and his team were able to help someone else in a similar situation. I called Larry the next day and I am so happy I did. Although we originally reached out to Larry about painting, we were very happy to learn that his team could tackle a number of other projects for our home's exterior as well. We worked with Larry to come up with a holistic plan for a complete exterior restoration that fit our budget. Coming up with the plan was a fun process that got us very excited about the project. It also made us realize how passionate Larry is about making old homes shine! In addition to the difficult surface preparation needed before painting, Larry's team also handled a number of repairs. A section of siding had rotted and they were able to replace just that section with new cedar siding (preserving as much as possible). The back corner of the house is an addition and was originally done with a different siding that didn't match the cedar used for the rest of the house. Larry's team figured out how to replace the siding in this section with new cedar siding and have it blend in seamlessly with the original by interweaving it. The result far exceeded our expecationation of what was even possible! Larry's team also stained our fence, fixed window frames, repaired gates, and the list goes on. The front porch is where we worked with Larry to go beyond repairs and try something new and exciting. The biggest change was replacing a small window on the porch with an incredible piece of antique stained glass that Larry helped source. The stained glass was much taller and skinnier than the original window. Larry's team was able to create a new window frame and install the glass in record time. Larry went the extra mile to make sure the lighting was perfect and had back lighting installed behind the window. The ceiling of the porch was also replaced with new cedar panels with a translucent high gloss stain. Larry's team also created custom caps for the posts on the stairs leading up the porch to replace the warped metal ones that were there previously. The new caps are beautifully topped with amber glass. The combination of the stained glass, the glass caps, improved lighting and the refraction off the high gloss ceiling transformed the space into something really special. We couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend Larry and his team to anyone looking to restore an older home or add improvements in keeping with the home's original style. Thornton House Painting
If there is any peeling — and there usually is somewhere — it's essential to scrape off any loose paint. This doesn't just mean the parts that are already separated from the wood and ready to fall off on their own. Each spot where paint has peeled loose needs to be scraped thoroughly until you can no longer get the sharp corner of a putty knife under any of the surrounding edges of paint. Then, the bare spot needs to be sanded until the paint edges are smooth. Thornton Home Painting

"We contacted Vadim after buying a home that needed some updating. They were incredibly responsive, despite the tough times and were able to get us a affordable quote for the effort we were asking for. Vadim and David took such pride in their job, made up for mistakes of the previous paint companies years before them, and provided a perfect paint job while always being extremely mindful of protecting the rest of the home." Can you paint your house yourself? DIY painting can save you thirty-percent over the cost of a contractor, but it’s a painstaking and time-consuming process. For every hour of labor saved, you’ll spend more money to buy paint without a discount, and you’ll have to rent equipment and purchase supplies that you may never use again. Hiring an expert is the best way to ensure the job is done right and with the least amount of disruption to your daily routine.
"Spraying NorthWest is a reliable, consistent, professional team that did a fantastic job on the exterior of my house. What I appreciate most about their work is that it's neat, easy and they offered up some great suggestions when I was on the fence with some colors. They were affordable and on time. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again."

Oil-based products have a reputation for durability, but latex and acrylic have come a long way. High traffic areas, such as porch floors, benefit from oil paints, but latex and acrylic are excellent choices other surfaces. They’re less expensive, require only water to clean, and most are low-VOC. Your contractor will work with you to choose paints based on your needs and area weather conditions. Thornton House Painting
I was a former contractor myself and worked in construction for many years so I know a good painter when I see one. A good paint job is about knowing how to prepare each surface to receive the paint. Then also nowadays it's important to have experience with the different coatings currently available. Finally its important have the skills needed to apply the paint (spray, brush, etc) and proceed in a workmanlike manner doing what needs to be done efficiently but without cutting corners. From estimate to finish it is clear that Brush'n'Roll operates with a very high level of professionalism and competence so I recommend this company without reservation. Thornton House Painting
If you choose to paint your home yourself, you can save on the cost of labor. But if you don’t have the time or experience to tackle to job, it’s worth paying the going rate for painters in your area. If your home requires power washing prior to painting, and if it requires caulking for windows and doors, the cost will also rise. Whether paint is applied with a sprayer, brushed, or rolled on will also factor into the price. A painting pro can easily offer an estimate prior to undertaking an exterior painting job.
Paint made for the exterior of a house is formulated differently from that destined for interior paint jobs. Exterior house paint is blended to withstand rain, wind, and varying temperatures, while interior house paint is formulated to hide minor imperfections such as brush marks, handprints, and scuffs. Interior paints can be made washable for convenience, and doesn’t require exposure to light to cure. Thornton House Painting
Better paints are thicker because they have a higher percentage of resin to water. You’ll pay more because there are more raw ingredients in the can, but each gallon covers more surface area and hides older colors more thoroughly. All-in-one paint and primer formulas are thicker versions of regular paint, and their coverage is exceptional. In the long run, you’ll save by using less, and the results will speak for themselves.
