There are permanent features of the home that have their own colors which cannot be changed when painting the exterior of the home but can have a dramatic satisfaction level that is experienced when the painting is completed. Roofing shingles, paving blocks, concrete surfaces, stones and other such features are prime examples of the colors that should be considered when selecting your exterior color scheme for the home. Homeowners can work off of these colors to make a home that looks uniform and luxurious when the exterior painting is complete. Thornton House Painting
"We contacted Vadim after buying a home that needed some updating. They were incredibly responsive, despite the tough times and were able to get us a affordable quote for the effort we were asking for. Vadim and David took such pride in their job, made up for mistakes of the previous paint companies years before them, and provided a perfect paint job while always being extremely mindful of protecting the rest of the home."

Most siding material needs at least some sort of scraping, sanding or stripping before repainting. Chipped or bubbled paint not firmly adhered to a surface creates a weak area that leaves fresh paint more vulnerable to damage. Scraping removes large loose pieces. Sanding then smooths the edges of whatever paint remains. Keep in mind the process varies based on the type of siding.
Before you start a painting job either on the interior your home, or the exterior, you’ll need to estimate how much paint to buy. There are various factors to take into consideration when deciding how many gallons of paint to buy for your project. You’ll need the square footage of the area that needs to be painted, while keeping in mind that doors and windows require a different type of paint from the walls. Thornton House Painting

Every home has details that can be accentuated for amazing looking visual appeal and first impressions. The key is to not make the wrong details stand out. Entryways, windows, shutters and other details on the home can be painted to make their design noticeable. However features such as gutters, downspouts, external air conditioning systems, unevenly proportioned windows and protruding garage doors should not be completed to draw attention to them as this will provide a negative results. Can you paint your house yourself? DIY painting can save you thirty-percent over the cost of a contractor, but it’s a painstaking and time-consuming process. For every hour of labor saved, you’ll spend more money to buy paint without a discount, and you’ll have to rent equipment and purchase supplies that you may never use again. Hiring an expert is the best way to ensure the job is done right and with the least amount of disruption to your daily routine. Thornton Home Painting
The cost of paint is easy to calculate, and additional expenses rarely add much to the total cost of a project. The price of labor, however, rises steeply based on the complexity of the work. A simple one-story ranch in good repair is a breeze to paint, multi-story homes in poor condition or with extensive architectural features are much more challenging. See below the differences between the cost to paint a 2-story home vs a ranch style: Thornton House Painting
Unlike wood, metal siding is easy to clean with a solution of water and sodium phosphate, and it dries almost instantaneously. However, it must be sanded and primed with two coats of oil-based primer before it’s painted. Oil-based products are a little more expensive than water-based primers, and they take longer to dry. Applying two coats could add an extra day’s labor to a painting project. Thornton Home Painting
How much paint will you need? It takes about 8 gallons per coat to cover a 2500 square-foot house with wood or metal siding. Two coats are usually recommended, making the cost of paint $640 – $1440 depending on the per-gallon cost. Textured or porous siding, such as stucco or concrete, have a greater surface area and require up to twice as much paint for full coverage.
"My husband and I rarely find contractors or handymen that meet our high expectations. Hiring Precision Construction & Painting was the best choice we ve ever made to do projects around our home. Dmitri only uses the best equipment, products & tools, making sure his work meets his own high standards. We were so impressed that his keen eye picked up things that our original builder failed to do on our home. This young man is completely trustworthy, polite and honest. We initially had him fix a poorly installed storm door and paint the damaged area. Then we hired him to paint our deck. His work ethic is impeccable. We are now going to hire him to fix our siding which is warping and then do some tile repair work. Dmitri is a gifted man who truly cares about his reputation and quality of work. And his work for us reflects that very well. Do not hesitate hiring Dmitri. Precision Construction & Painting is worth every cent paid and then some! Randall and Karen F." Thornton House Painting
Paint made for the exterior of a house is formulated differently from that destined for interior paint jobs. Exterior house paint is blended to withstand rain, wind, and varying temperatures, while interior house paint is formulated to hide minor imperfections such as brush marks, handprints, and scuffs. Interior paints can be made washable for convenience, and doesn’t require exposure to light to cure. House Painting Thornton
"Justin and his crew were top-notch, professional, and eager to please. Justin's bid was within the range of other bids, and his foreman, Victor, was a dream to work with. They were also excellent at clean, crisp lines. They painted the exterior of our large detached garage, which was no typical garage. Our 3 garage doors have X's as part of the garage door design, and they painted the X's in the trim color with beautiful precision. Not only that, but they painted the soffit on our covered deck, and below the soffit that extends 60 feet is a deep flower bed. They pressure washed the soffit and painted it, and you would never know that they had been there. Not a single part of the foliage was damaged. This is a class act company. Thanks Justin and your crew!" Thornton Home Painting

I can't begin to describe how great of an experience we had working with Larry on an exterior restoration of our house. Our 1910 craftsman home had a big issue with paint bubbling due to many layers of incompatible types of paint used over the years. Our home still had the original cedar siding and we couldn't imagine replacing it. At first we didn't know where to start. Most contractors were either painters that didn't handle the type of surface preparation needed to deal with paint bubbling or siding specialists that only provided removing and replacing siding. Just when we were losing hope of finding the right contractor, we read a very positive review on Angie's list about how Larry and his team were able to help someone else in a similar situation. I called Larry the next day and I am so happy I did. Although we originally reached out to Larry about painting, we were very happy to learn that his team could tackle a number of other projects for our home's exterior as well. We worked with Larry to come up with a holistic plan for a complete exterior restoration that fit our budget. Coming up with the plan was a fun process that got us very excited about the project. It also made us realize how passionate Larry is about making old homes shine! In addition to the difficult surface preparation needed before painting, Larry's team also handled a number of repairs. A section of siding had rotted and they were able to replace just that section with new cedar siding (preserving as much as possible). The back corner of the house is an addition and was originally done with a different siding that didn't match the cedar used for the rest of the house. Larry's team figured out how to replace the siding in this section with new cedar siding and have it blend in seamlessly with the original by interweaving it. The result far exceeded our expecationation of what was even possible! Larry's team also stained our fence, fixed window frames, repaired gates, and the list goes on. The front porch is where we worked with Larry to go beyond repairs and try something new and exciting. The biggest change was replacing a small window on the porch with an incredible piece of antique stained glass that Larry helped source. The stained glass was much taller and skinnier than the original window. Larry's team was able to create a new window frame and install the glass in record time. Larry went the extra mile to make sure the lighting was perfect and had back lighting installed behind the window. The ceiling of the porch was also replaced with new cedar panels with a translucent high gloss stain. Larry's team also created custom caps for the posts on the stairs leading up the porch to replace the warped metal ones that were there previously. The new caps are beautifully topped with amber glass. The combination of the stained glass, the glass caps, improved lighting and the refraction off the high gloss ceiling transformed the space into something really special. We couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend Larry and his team to anyone looking to restore an older home or add improvements in keeping with the home's original style. Thornton House Painting
If you’re considering adding fresh paint to the exterior of your home or garage, don’t worry about vinyl siding: it can be painted! Be sure to start with clean, dry siding (this may require pressure washing and good weather). Or, you can wash the siding with soap and water instead. But the main thing is to start with a clean, dry surface so the paint won’t peel. Be sure to select a color for the paint that’s not darker than the existing vinyl color: a darker shade will allow the siding to heat up more than it was designed to withstand. Thornton Home Painting
When selecting a color scheme for the home’s exterior homeowners can choose color options that will correct flaws that they may feel exist with their home and property. Some examples include utilizing two shades of a single color to make a home appear appropriately sized when the home may be too large or too tall. To accomplish this effect individuals will want to place the darker tone on the upper level of the home’s exterior. Smaller windows can appear more proportionately sized by trimming them in a lighter tone of paint. Darker colors make a space or feature appear smaller. The same effect can be obtained for homes positioned further away from a curb. By using lighter tones the home will not feel camouflaged. Thornton House Painters
